Timeless Play
Timeless Play – Because play has no age is an upcoming initiative by Allegrija Foundation that will bring the joy of interactive games to elderly residents in care homes across Gozo. Through age-appropriate activities such as cognitive games, gentle group exercises, and sensory play, the project will create moments of laughter, engagement, and connection. Sessions will encourage participation from residents, care staff, and volunteers alike, fostering social bonds and offering opportunities for mental, emotional, and physical stimulation in a safe and inclusive environment.
Thanks to the generous support of the Malta Airport Foundation, Timeless Play will be fully funded, allowing the project to provide durable, reusable equipment and ensure long-term impact. Volunteers will play a central role in facilitating the sessions, while care staff will help tailor activities to individual residents’ needs. Families and the wider community will benefit from seeing their loved ones actively engaged and joyful, while the project promotes inclusion, reduces isolation, and highlights the positive impact that creative, playful experiences can have on wellbeing and community connection.
Timeless Play engages residents in cognitive games such as bingo and memory challenges, helping to keep minds active. Regular mental stimulation can support memory, attention, and overall cognitive wellbeing, even for those living with dementia.
Gentle group games like ball toss and target exercises encourage movement in a safe, enjoyable way. This helps residents maintain mobility, coordination, and a healthier daily routine while having fun.
By participating alongside fellow residents, care staff, and volunteers, residents build relationships and share joyful experiences. These interactions reduce feelings of isolation and foster a stronger sense of belonging within the care home community.
